RONALD GARRIGUES was born in San Francisco on the Summer Solstice of 1930 having been conceived on Black Friday 1929. It was the beginning of the Great Depression. He earned his Bachelor of Science at the University of San Francisco as an English major. After the Korean War, he lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, making friends with the major figurative painters of the time, all of whom are dead. Having had no formal Art classes while attending Jesuit Schools, he sought out with the best mentors that he could find, learning from them as he taught himself how to sculpt and paint. His mentors are introduced in this book at the start of each section. Ronald lived in Bolinas, California, with his wife of 49 years, Maria. He passed away June 12, 2020 at home surrounded by family.
